Welcome to Reception
This document lays out all the developmental stages that children will move through from birth to 5. It contains some great ideas of what you can do at home to support your child's development.
We use these phonics songs and actions to help children when learning their sounds.
This website is filled with phonics games that the children will be familiar with from our phonics lessons.
Let's Get Wet!
As an opening to our new topic all about the ocean and water we had a water day in reception. We had lots of team work challenges and races to take part in. Even the teachers got involved!

The Fairy Tale Characters have escaped!
We came into school to find a notice from the Fairy Tale Police. It told us the portal to Once Upon A Time Land had opened by accident and lots of the Fairy Tale characters had escaped into our school. We found our classroom in a right mess! We had to search for clues to help Officer Piggleton find out which characters it was. We then went on a hunt around the school to see if we could find the magic portal to send our reports back to Officer Piggleton and ask if we could go to Once Upon A Time Land.
Every half term we will be visiting Paddington Rec to attend Forest School. We spent the whole morning outside exploring the area. We hunted for leaves and pine cones as well as creating our own leaf crowns.
Balance Bike Training
We had our first day of Balance Bike Training! Everyone was very excited to have a go at working on our physical development on the balance bikes. None of us gave up even when we fell or found it tricky to sit on our bikes as we pushed ourselves around. We cannot wait to see how we improve over the next few weeks.
This half term our topic is This is Me! We will be learning all about ourselves, our families and our communities. At home you can talk about who is important to your family and make your own family album. This could be using photos to make their own scrap book or maybe making their own albums using their drawings to represent the people who are important to them. You may want to share with your children photos and albums you already have.
Have fun getting creative!
