Year 2 16-17

Brilliant job with the IPC homework task Year 2! I have been very impressed!

At the moment, as part of our IPC topic, 'The Earth, Our Home Habitat', we are observing changes over time of broad bean seeds.

If you would like to grow one at home, here is a link with instructions. You can grow it in a jar with paper towels, or if you prefer put it into soil straight away. CLICK HERE.

I have enough broad bean seeds for everyone so please see me for one if you decide to grow one at home too.

Welcome back to the final term of this year!

Please take a look at the Intention letter to find out what we will be covering in Year 2 over the next few weeks.

There is an IPC HOMEWORK TASK! frown

Lately in IPC we have been looking at an IPC topic; The Earth, Our Home. We have been learning about habitats, animals and plants.

Your mission: Create a poster to present to the class about an animal or plant.

It must include:

  • An animal or plant (we would love to see some different plants)
  • It must have the habitat (would it be found in a rainforest, the ocean, a desert...)
  • Why is is suited to that habitat?

You can include:

  • Pictures or diagrams (or both)
  • Information
  • The life cycle (this could be shown as a diagram like we have completed in class)
  • Anything else you find interesting

* It would be fantastic to see some A3 sized posters.

Plant examples: Fig Trees, Cacti, Sunflowers, Honeysuckles

You can find this information on the internet (with an adult supervising) and you could search the library. Take your passport so you can get a stamp!

Last week we had Food Explorer's Week.

We had a healthy breakfast competition. Erik was our class winner with his 3D drawing of poached eggs on brown bread with kale and peppers. He also labelled the food groups. Well done!

We then played a sugar game and found out exactly how much sugar we should be eating (6 teaspoons a day). We were shocked to see how much sugar is in some of our favourite drinks and cereals. We thought some drinks such as Ribena are healthy but we were wrong!

Finally, on Thursday we went to Paddington Rec where we played games that taught us about the life-cycle of plants and we explored fruits, vegetables and herbs. We loved making and eating the pesto. Watch the video beneath the photos!

Year 2 certainly loved tasting the pesto at Paddington Rec!

Welcome to Year 2!

Welcome to our Year 2 class! We have been very busy this term and working hard in Maths, English Religion and we have loved our IPC topic, Super Humans... We would love to tell you how many bones we have and please ask us about the 5 senses! We are all so proud of how much our writing has improved.

Each Wednesday, we have been participating in Numberfit which is a really fun and active way to further develop our Maths skills and we have loved our weekly calm yoga sessions.. Thank you Rachel!

Thank you parents for your ongoing support!

Happy half term!
