In Year 2 we thought about all the things that we are grateful for and discussed how thinking about these things can calm us down if we are ever feeling anxious or worried. We created a garden of gratitude with personal plant pots showing what we are grateful for.
In Year 2 we read and discussed the book ‘What if we were all the same?’ The children spent time thinking about what makes them unique and different, and the importance of valuing difference. We all wrote our unique qualities on jigsaw pieces and put them together to show that we are all different, but together we are one and we are strong.
In Year 2 we spoke about the word peace and what it means. The children discussed the idea of people coming together and showing kindness and respect. They also thought about the unity of different cultures and religions and how showing love to one another is the beginning of developing peace in our community and in our world.
The children then made peace lanterns to decorate our classroom and commemorate the day. These will stay up on display as a constant reminder of everyone’s part to play in developing a more peaceful world.
