While the role of art in children's development has always been crucial, now more than ever it is important for children to have opportunities to explore their curiosity and imagination - being creative is a powerful outlet for children to be able to cope with their feelings and fears, as well as managing their emotional states. Art is a wonderful medium for children to become comfortable with the uncertain, to develop an understanding of perseverance, to appreciate diversity in outcome and so much more! And better yet it, offers enjoyable opportunities for families to explore together.

The links below offer a wide range of ideas, activities, resources, and lessons that the children can explore themselves or with their family. The Crafty Classroom The Crafty Classroom is a website is filled with crafts, activities and pintables you can use in your classroom! The thematic crafts and activities are designed to complement and work alongside areas of the curriculum, providing additional learning opportunities and discussions. You can find project ideas, full photo instructions and lists of materials that you are likely to already have in your resource cupboard.

Culture Street There are 4 ‘channels’ to choose from: art, museum, books, stage. It includes: ‘workshop’ and ‘have a go’ sections with ideas for exploring and making, a showcase gallery, and plenty of information and videos on a wide range of artists.

Tate Kids Tate's website has ideas for making, quizzes and games, facts and videos about artists, art movements.

Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA have created a set of engaging and easy to use resources for people of all ages and interests to explore architecture from home. Some of them will develop your skills or teach you something new about architecture, some you can do together as a group and some all you need is your imagination. Activities separated in to 'Learning at home' and 'Curriculum based activities'.

The Art Room - Place2be During the lockdown period, the Art Room team created a series of free projects for primary aged children to make at home or school together with parents, carers or teachers.

Access Art resources for home learners Access Art have collated art resources to use at home. They also share a collection of visual arts learning resources for teachers aimed at primary age and upwards.

BBC Bitesize A range of BBC clips themed by discipline, visual & tactile elements; Media and materials; Inspiration and investigation; Design Activities.

NSEAD & Oak National Academy NSEAD has partnered with Oak National Academy to create new Art, Craft and Design lessons for Key Stage 1 and 2. They are engaging and accessible, and fantastic for both remote and in-school lessons.
