Maintenance Fund

As St Peter’s is a ‘Voluntary Aided’ school, we are required to look after the school buildings ourselves.  We receive a small government grant to help and we are expected to raise additional funds by voluntary donations.

We therefore ask parents to support the school with an annual donation into our Maintenance Fund.  The Fund is used to support projects that maintain and improve the school buildings.

In 2021-22, your donations went towards improving the teaching environment with the installation of comfort cooling/heating units in some classrooms.  We were successful with our application for a ‘Green’ grant of £10,000 but needed to contribute an additional £16,000 to the project.  Your contributions helped with this.  We were so grateful to have these units in place last summer!

In 2022-23, your donations were put to good use  to help fund a lighting improvement project.  Like you, we are concerned about rising energy costs and with our impact on the planet and were so pleased to replace our lighting with modern, energy efficient lighting and incorporated improvements to the external lighting to enable us to make better use of our grounds during the winter months.

For this year, we are planning to strengthen school security by upgrading the CCTV and Access Control systems.  These are very old and are coming to the end of their useful life.  It is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to repair them and to obtain compatible spare parts.  A modern upgrade would boost security by providing clear, high resolution images that would deter intruders and help us to keep everyone safe and secure on the school site.

We have set a fundraising goal of £12,000, which equates to £60 per child.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could contribute this amount, ideally by the end of 2023.

Alternatively, you can spread the cost and sign up for a weekly or monthly standing order.

Please use the link in your ParentPay account to make your donation.  You can change the amount to pay more if you can afford it, or if you have other family members who are also willing to contribute.  Alternatively, please change the amount to pay less, for example if you have more than one child at the school and you will struggle to afford multiple contributions.  All we ask is that you please pay something per child if you possibly can – it all helps!  If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete the Gift Aid form attached so that we can increase the value of your donation by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you donate.

We would encourage as many of you as possible to pay by standing order.  It only takes a few minutes to set this up with your bank, and will enable you to spread your contribution over the entire year.  We would suggest an amount of £1 per week (£52) or £5 per month (£60).

Please send your regular payments to:

All of us at St Peters want to thank you in advance for your contribution – it really does make a difference.
